Vibia of Barcelona sees light not as an object but as a tool for shaping spaces. Since 1987 it has been creating lighting collections that build moods, define zones and accompany architecture – indoors and out, in the home as much as in contract projects.
What Vibia stands for.
Vibia was founded in Barcelona in 1987 and has become one of Spain's defining lighting brands. At its heart lies a simple conviction: the luminaire is not the goal – the atmosphere it creates is. From this attitude emerge restrained, precise collections that defer to the architecture – and transform it at the same time.
Many Vibia systems are conceived modularly: pendants, surfaces and points of light can be combined into expansive compositions, from the intimate living room to the multi-storey lobby. Collections such as “Circus”, “Wireflow” and “Plusminus” show how graphically reduced and yet poetic technical light can be – indoors as well as outdoors.
Vibia works with an international circle of designers – among them Antoni Arola; Arik Levy, whose “Wireflow” cultivates drawing with light in space; and Stefan Diez, who developed “Plusminus”, a freely configurable belt-based lighting system.
The designs take shape in close dialogue between the design studios and the development team in Barcelona – with the ambition of making the technology invisible and its effect tangible.
