Viabizzuno. The art of designing light.
Viabizzuno treats light as a material of architecture. Founded near Bologna in 1994 by Mario Nanni, the manufactory unites Italian craftsmanship with technical precision – from invisibly integrated lighting systems to poetic individual luminaires.
What Viabizzuno stands for.
Viabizzuno was founded in 1994 by Mario Nanni and is based in Bentivoglio near Bologna. The name recalls the street where Nanni grew up – via Bizzuno. Its self-conception is captured in the motto “progettiamo la luce”: we design light, not merely luminaires.
The work is divided into two lines, echoed in the two strokes of the logo: For m, the strict, vertical line of technical architectural lighting – and Alvaline, the slanted, ironic line of the decorative collection. Everything is made in Italy, with an uncompromising standard of material, craft and detail.
Viabizzuno realises lighting projects for culture, hospitality, retail and private spaces worldwide – from the Art Institute of Chicago to the Archivio di Stato di Napoli – working closely with architects; product families such as “officina zumthor” emerged from a dialogue with Peter Zumthor.
Mario Nanni, founder and creative mind of Viabizzuno, is considered one of Italy's great makers of light. For decades he has been designing light for architecture – convinced that the effect and emotion of light come first, and the object only after.

We plan independently of any manufacturer, choose the right luminaire for each room and task – and take care of sampling and sourcing.
