Roll & Hill. Independent design, in-house manufactory.

Roll & Hill was founded in Brooklyn in 2010 by Jason Miller – as a platform offering independent designers manufacturing at the highest level. Today every luminaire is made to order in the company’s own manufactory in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The result is a distinctly American lighting design between sculpture and series.

The brand

What Roll & Hill stands for.

Roll & Hill began in 2010 in a small studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn – with the idea of establishing a distinctly American understanding of design. The company sees itself as curator and manufacturer in one: it brings independent designers together with a broad palette of materials and its own production.

Collections such as Cloud, Veil and Knotty Bubbles combine artisanal precision with sculptural presence. Everything is made to order – today in a state-of-the-art manufactory in Grand Rapids, Michigan, under the motto “Made in Michigan. Collected Worldwide.”

Of particular interest for lighting design: many models are modular and can be configured in different sizes, materials and finishes – from a single pendant to a room-filling chandelier.

Design

Founder and creative director Jason Miller worked as a designer in New York himself before bringing Roll & Hill to life. Alongside his own designs such as the Modo series, he deliberately opens the brand to independent designers – among them Lindsey Adelman, whose Knotty Bubbles is made by Roll & Hill.
