Occhio. A new culture of light.
Occhio was founded in Munich in 1999 by Axel Meise and stands for a new culture of light. Its consistently designed luminaire series combine precise light quality with intuitive operation – up to and including control by gesture.
What Occhio stands for.
Occhio began in 1999 with an idea as simple as it was radical: a continuous lighting system, consistent in design and light quality – turning its users into lighting designers of their own spaces. The modular debut, Puro, was followed in 2004 by the Sento luminaire system with interchangeable optics.
Today the range comprises series such as Mito, Luna, Gioia, Sento and io – from spotlights to pendant and wall luminaires to floor lamps. Their hallmarks are high-grade LED technology, versatile lighting effects and “joy of use”: many luminaires can be controlled touch-free by gesture or via app.
From a Munich design company, Occhio has grown into an international brand in the premium segment – with flagship stores of its own and lighting solutions for residential spaces, hospitality, office and retail.
Axel Meise, founder and chief designer of Occhio, ranks among the most successful lighting designers of our time – his designs have received more than 100 design awards.
His approach is holistic: luminaire, light and operation are conceived as one – an attitude Occhio understands as a “culture of light”.
