Foscarini. Poetry of material and light.
Founded on Murano in 1981, Foscarini has evolved from a Venetian glass specialist into one of Italy's freest lighting manufacturers. Every collection begins with an idea – and then seeks out the material that tells it best.
What Foscarini stands for.
Foscarini was founded on Murano in 1981 and broke early with the convention of working exclusively in glass. Because the company deliberately produces without a factory of its own, it is free in its choice of means: each project is realised with the workshops and technologies that serve the idea – from blown glass to composite materials to lacquered carbon fibre.
This gave rise to icons such as the “Twiggy” by Marc Sadler with its sweeping arc, the glamorous “Caboche” by Patricia Urquiola and Eliana Gerotto, and the “Lumiere” by Rodolfo Dordoni. For the “Mite” and “Tite” luminaires by Marc Sadler, Foscarini received the Compasso d'Oro in 2001; a second followed in 2014 for the magazine “Inventario”. The company is now headquartered in Marcon near Venice.
Foscarini has been shaped by Carlo Urbinati and Alessandro Vecchiato, who took over the company from 1988 and formed it into a design brand. Rather than a house style, Foscarini cultivates a dialogue with many voices – Marc Sadler, Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni, Ludovica & Roberto Palomba and others.
Foscarini in your project.
We plan independently of any manufacturer, choose the right luminaire for each room and task – and take care of sampling and sourcing.
